Pear – Duchess
Pyrus communis. Fruiting pear. Duchess is the most popular canning and fresh market pear, use fresh, poached, baked and in salads. Medium to large pyriform shape. Skin is pale green at picking, turns yellow when ripe. Flesh is white, tender, juicy and sweet, buttery, melting flesh. Maturity ripening early to mid February. Pollinators: Self-fertile.
