Plum – Mariposa

Prunus salicina. Fruiting Plum. Mariposa is a popular blood plum with large, heart shaped fruit. Excellent sweet flavour and very dark red, juicy flesh. Sweeter, larger and softer than ‘Satsuma’. Used for fresh fruit, juice, jam and stewing. Suitable for small to medium gardens. Pollination ‘Santa Rosa’. Skin is dark maroon over a green ground colour. Numerous green-khaki lenticels give a spotted effect. Flesh is blood red. Fine textured. Juicy. Soft when ripe. Flavour is very good and sweet when fully ripe with some acid.
